Outside Opinions: Book Reviews

Across the country, To Save Everything, Click Here has garnered a lot of attention, both positive and negative. With such a crucial and controversial topicpeople are eager to review and offer their opinions on the book. A search across the Internet yields a long list of reviews for the book. Some reviews praise his insights and the "no holds barred" writing style, while some say that though he is correct, Morozov spends more time bullying his ideological opponents than offering solutions or explaining why solution and Internet-centrism are bad. Here's a compiled list of online reviews that I found using Google and ProQuest searches.

"Evgeny Morozov pushes back against this "techno-fix" ideology. While To Save Everything, Click Here is a difficult read - filled with references to diverse theorists and thick with case studies - it also provides an exemplary philosophy of technology."
~ Evan Selinger, The Wilson Quarterly

"Morovoz's formidable intellect makes this a noteworthy book. A dose of humility would have made it a better one."
~ Ellen Ullman, The New York Times

"Although I share his concerns about private power, Morozov oversells his points with a vehemence that takes a good cause and gives it a bad name."
~ Tim Wu, The Washington Post

"Now, Morozov thinks it's more important to unbundle the Internet's technologies and understand what each one is good for. We need, he says, to think and ask questions. Which is all fine, but asking questions is exactly what geeks do. To pretend otherwise is to ignore the rich history of Internet politics and activism - every one of today's debates began with pioneers inventing the protocols. Morozov needs to get out more."
~ Wendy Grossman, ZDNet UK Book Reviews

"Morozov's roaring line-up of timely, well-documented and his masterfully delivered ethical-existential plea give us plenty of food for thought."
~ Yoni van der Eede, Nexus Institute

"With eloquence, erudition, and wit, Morozov says that it's time to start thinking clearly about the proper uses of these technologies, and to give up the naive delusion that our most challenging problems can be solved with a click of the mouse."
~ Hiawatha Bray, The Boston Globe

"As a reactionary polemic, To Save Everything effectively dismantles the ideological status quo, but does little to present an alluring alternative version."
~ Kevin Driscoll, LA Review of Books
